Clayton A. Varga, MD, MHSM / Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Clayton Varga founded the Pasadena Rehabilitation Institute (PRI) in 1990. He serves as PRI’s Chief Executive Officer and maintains an active role in Synovation Medical Group, but no longer directly sees patients.
Dr. Varga received his Doctor of Medicine from USC, and later completed a residency in Anesthesiology and a fellowship in Pain Management at UCLA. Dr. Varga subsequently returned to USC as the Director of Pain Management and became a founding member of the American Academy of Pain Management. In 1990, Dr. Varga moved his practice to Pasadena, and over time this evolved into the Pasadena Rehabilitation Institute.
Dr. Varga served as the Corporate Medical Director for Summit Health, developing 20 pain management centers under the corporate trademark over the southwestern United States. Dr. Varga has also developed pain management centers for other corporate entities, hospitals and individual physicians, starting more than 40 new centers in the last 20 years. In the mid 1990s, Dr. Varga earned a Master’s degree from the Department of Health Systems Management at Tulane University and subsequently completed the Mergers and Acquisitions Program at the UCLA Anderson School of Business. Dr. Varga is also the founder and CEO of Fusion Health, and currently owns, operates or manages more than 20 separate practices and facilities in southern California. He enjoys live theater, classical music, the acquisition of knowledge and spending time with family and friends.
