Dr. Curtis Joung is the medical director and a physical medicine physician at Azusa Pain Management. As a medical student many years ago, Dr. Curtis Joung chose to specialize in the field of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) because this field allowed him to focus not only on the patients’ quantity of life, but also on the quality of life. Now as a fully licensed and practicing physician, he continues to faithfully follow his principle of improving patients’ quality of life. Whether it is to restore mobility and independence after a stroke or spinal cord injury, to evaluate for proper assistive device and prosthetic needs, to manage spasticity, and to manage acute and chronic pain from a variety of causes, Dr. Joung focuses his evaluation and treatment on a patient’s specific needs and goals to improve the quality of life.
Dr. Joung received his MD from University of California, Irvine, and completed his internship training in internal medicine and residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He is also an experienced acupuncturist and received his acupuncture training at the prestigious UCLA/HELMS Institute. Dr. Joung also has been very active in clinical research, and is a co-author on numerous scientific studies. He is also an accomplished concert pianist and choral conductor, receiving a music degree from the University of California, Irvine.
