Oriental Medicine/Acupuncture

Oriental Medicine, which dates back to the 3rd Century BC, includes herbal therapy, acupuncture, moxabustion, dietary changes and exercise (Tai Chi and Qi Gong). It is used to treat or prevent a wide variety of health problems. With chronic pain patients, acupuncture has been shown to be most effective when correlated with physical therapy exercises. Several studies support the use of acupuncture in managing pain. Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting and manipulating needles into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes. It is perhaps the most ancient form of medicine practiced in the world today, having originated in China more than 5,000 years ago. Acupuncture restores the body and has helped many people manage chronic pain on a daily basis.
