Purpose:
We are organizing a Winter Warmth Drive to support individuals in need during the cold winter months. The goal is to collect warm clothing, blankets, socks, jackets, and other essentials, and then distribute these donations to those in need within the local community.

How It Works:
• Donation Box: We will place a donation box in a central location at the Surgery Center of San Diego to collect items from staff, patients, and visitors.

• Accepted Donations: New or gently used blankets, coats, jackets, socks, gloves, hats, scarves, and other warm clothing items.
• Drop-off Deadline: All donations should be made by January 17th.

• Distribution: After the collection period, we will organize a distribution event or coordinate with local shelters or organizations to deliver the items to those in need.

How You Can Help:
• Donate Items: We encourage everyone to donate any warm clothing or blankets they no longer need.
• Spread the Word: Help us spread the word to friends, family, and colleagues who may want to contribute.
• Volunteer: We will also be looking for volunteers to help with the sorting and distribution of the donations.

Impact:
Your contributions will directly help people who are struggling during the colder months and ensure that they have the warmth they need to stay safe and comfortable.

Dr. Dairo’s interest in medicine started with a childhood desire to understand how things around us work. As he began to
learn how science applied to the human body, Dr. Dairo started
shadowing some of his friends’ fathers who were physicians.
“I liked being able to apply a scientific understanding of how
things work to help people,” he says.

Approach
Dr. Dairo wants to get to know his patients first, especially how their pain has affected their
quality of life. He received good advice from one of his medical school instructors: “The
patient will always tell you what is wrong with them if you take the time to listen.” Dr. Dairo
believes that a physician’s role is to listen carefully before offering ideas for treatment. “I’ve
found that if I take more time to listen carefully,” he says, “the answer is there.”
Because of his previous experience, Dr. Dairo is skilled in some advanced procedures like
spinal cord stimulators, interspinous spacers, and intrathecal pain pumps, as well as regenerative medicine therapies like ketamine infusions, plasma-rich platelet (PRP) therapy,
and bone marrow concentrate (BMC) injections. He is also excited about the pain-relief potential for rhizotomies and ablations because these procedures can offer pain relief from
six months to two years.

Credentials
Dr. Dairo grew up in Indiana and graduated with his undergraduate degree and a master’s in
medical sciences from Indiana University. He completed medical school and an internship
in internal medicine at Howard University, followed by an anesthesia residency at the University of California San Diego. After a one-year fellowship in interventional pain management, Dr. Dairo began working for Pacific Pain Medicine Consultants in 2019, later joining
Synovation in October 2022.

Personal
Dr. Dairo enjoys surfing, playing beach volleyball, and riding a longboard. He’s an avid skier
and looks forward to trying out a snowboard soon. Music of all kinds is important to him,
and if there’s a live music festival nearby, you’ll probably find him there.

Approach:
Shynesta Reed’s approach focuses on time and listening: “I was a nurse first, so I am used to being more hands-on and spending more time with patients,” she says. As a nurse practitioner, Reed can do everything a doctor does except for procedures. While always open to new and innovative treatments, Reed has found physical therapy and lifestyle modifications to be most successful in pain reduction. She says, “I just want patients to know we’re working together to find a treatment plan so they can enjoy life without pain interfering in their daily activities.”

Professional Highlights:
Reed earned her undergraduate degree as a registered nurse at Vernon College in 2006. She graduated with honors in the Master of Science in nursing (MSN) program as a family nurse practitioner from Walden University in 2017. After working for long-term care and rehabilitation facilities as well as a private practice, she began at Synovation in January of 2023. Reed is also a member of Wichita County Nurse Practitioners (WCNP), the Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP), and the American Association Of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Personal Notes:
Reed enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and their three adult children, Mikayla, Anthony, and Parker. In her spare time she enjoys traveling. “If I’m not at work, I can most likely be found on a beach somewhere.”
