The focus of the program is to improve your functionality and qulity of life. To accomplish this, the program is broken down into two important parts. The first part will help you improve your physical functioning and increase your activities of daily living. This is achieved by medical management (MD) and therapeutic exercise (TE). The second part of the program will address the stress, depression, and anxiety often associated with chronic pain and illness. This is important because research shows that these things make pain worse. This goal is achieved with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), biofeedback/relaxation training, assertiveness training, expressive writing, mindfulness training and relapse prevention.
