Her interest in medicine began when she was handling claims for an insurance company in connection with losses from Hurricane Andrew. “For me to work competently on the insurance claims at that time, I decided I needed to take a medical terminology course,” she says. From there, her interest compelled her to pursue more education to change careers.
Approach
Dr. Z approaches pain treatment for the spine and musculoskeletal system by first determining an accurate diagnosis. His personal experience with back pain informs thoughtful questions and careful listening to a patient’s experience. From there, Dr. Z can prescribe traditional interventional pain procedures as well as innovative regenerative medicine therapies, such as orthobiologic regenerative injection therapies.
Procedural Skills
Dr. Z has experience in percutaneous spinal procedures, including epidural steroid injections, facet nerve blocks, and radiofrequency ablation. He also is skilled in interventional regenerative medicine like platelet rich plasma (PRP), neural prolotherapy, and visco-supplementation injections.
Credentials
Dr. Z received his medical doctorate from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent residencies in General Surgery and then Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He also completed a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Pain Medicine. Dr. Z has spoken at professional conferences on pain management topics, such as “Cutting-Edge Musculoskeletal Treatments: No Knife Required” and “BiowavePRO: Neuro-modulation Pain Therapy.”
